Here is this month's (and last month's, too, since I'm so far behind) thank you feature. I will send in the notificatiosn tomorrow because, as of right now, my poor computer is about to die of exhaustion from too many deviations opened to make the feature!

~ I saw this idea on Lazulyte's journal and I thought it was a great idea! So I'm going to start doing this, too. And, in case someone out there hadn't yet noticed, I LOVE doing features! Instead of saying a plain "thank you" to all the deviants who take the time to support my work, I'll go around their gallery, pick a deviation I like and feature it in my journal. ~

They threw us out of Heaven, saying:
"We don't have no wings your size
and our lutes are too big for you anyhow.
You'd ruin the view."
And hooks from Hell failed to snag us
so we fell through fish lines, nets and heat
to the other side of the world.
Dragons twined with clouds there,
writhed, snagged air on green paper scales.
We watched them flutter. You leaned your head
against my straw-woven vest,
your matted, black hair on my face, in my mouth.
The desert scorched your sun-hewn cheeks,
burned eyelashes and locks to white
like crisp, split-ended reminders of snow
amidst topaz sand and light.
Dreams of gold clouds and gates
do not haunt us.
Instead, I wake from strolls in mist-drowned forests
where black birds scatter across the sky
like splinters of silence.
You murmur in your sleep -
mellifluous songs. I remember a thatched roof
and raindrops licking glass.
We plodded to the sea at dawn,
clinging to a donkey's tail
that dropped us at the dune,
making the birds sidestep and glare.
